Growing up, I felt that heritage in every meal, every story, every tradition they preserved. Yet, I also felt the distance — the quiet longing for the homeland they had sacrificed.
In 2018, I decided to reclaim what they had carried across the ocean. I pursued my Italian citizenship through the Toronto Consulate. It was not easy: endless bureaucracy, long delays, and the constant fear that one small error could erase decades of family history. But I persevered, and I succeeded. I held in my hands not just a passport, but a symbol of belonging — a bridge between the life my parents built in Canada and the roots they left in Italy.
That journey changed me. It taught me that the system is designed to be difficult, but it also showed me the profound value of reclaiming one’s heritage. Out of that struggle, I founded The Italian Link.
Today, I am honored to live with the rights my parents carried across the ocean, and I dedicate myself to helping others do the same. For me, this is more than paperwork — it is about family, memory, and legacy. It is about ensuring that no one has to walk this path alone.
